Our first offering in the castable fly space - The Convertible Baitcast Fly! We now refer to this bait as "The Glider Fly" as it really does resemble the action of a muskie glide bait, but with a full outfit of hackles, flash, marabou and natural deer hair.
These are built with buoyancy using foam float over a keel-weighted construction. This allows the bait to coast through the water, right-side up, then slowly sink on the pause. The foam is packed with two glass rattles for extra noise attraction. These elements of hardware are then protected with a tough mesh sheathing for great durability and background blend for the soft materials to be tied around. The lure profile is created using four build points for volumes of soft materials to be tied onto. The rear treble is fixed and allows the bait to track during the retrieve and these weed guards are also stowable when pushed over the bend of the hook for situational fishing. The front rigging point allows for exchangeable hooks and our In-Line Weights to be installed for adjusting the sink rate, if desired.
You can honestly have the confidence to work these lures into really thick cover whether it's wood or weeds. Typically, these are worked with a sweep-and-pause action using variable speeds to match the mood of the fish. Fish tend to bite on the pause and know that if you feel any resistance, give them a rip! This bait is a favorite those who fish heavy cover and river anglers alike. A fantastic producer in cold water with slower moving fish, this bait has helped win fall muskie tournaments and is a solid producer all the way until ice up.
